Last year, ‘Spiela’ and ‘Out The Box’ teamed up and created “Phenomenal Woman”. An impactful night that celebrates, showcases, supports and highlights the true magic and strength of the black woman.
Over 100 black women of all ages and backgrounds gathered together for a time of celebration, empowerment and sisterhood.
This year we’re back and better than ever with interactive discussions and valuable insight from two powerful women who have overcome many odds. The evening will celebrate, equip and support the black woman to rise above obstacles to achieve success in business, career and daily life in 2018 and beyond.

Annika Allen is the co-owner of entertainment platform ‘The Colour Network’ and founder of the ‘Black Magic Awards’. Annika has over 15 years’ experience in the communications and entertainment industry leading on projects for brands such as Google UK, Universal and Crime-stoppers that have delivered solid results and innovative experiences strategically devised to entertain, promote, grow brand integrity, inspire and build audiences.
Listed as one of the most inspirational black British females in an article in The Metro, she is a sought after speaker on business, diversity and popular culture and entrepreneurial spirit, creative flair and go-getting attitude has enabled her to build businesses and brands and empower the next generation of creative talent through digital communications and entertaining and educational experiential events.
Annika studied at the London College of Communication and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Journalism. As an accomplished journalist with a specialism in arts, lifestyle and entertainment she contributed features to Pride Magazine, The Voice Newspaper, Street Cred Magazine, The Birmingham Post, Black Hair to name but a few and had a weekly column in the New Nation Newspaper before embarking on her own publishing business with the launch of youth lifestyle publication Flavourmag.
Highlights as a journalist include interviewing the likes of Idris Elba, Janet Jackson and Tyler Perry and being invited to Downing Street to meet former Prime Minister David Cameron.
Rachael Lasamba – Having started her first business at the age of 17, Rachael Lasamaba is a serial entrepreneur. Since breaking into the fashion industry, Rachael has made great strides. From styling A-list celebrities, to founding her own bridal wear company Ràshel, to most recently producing the official Congo Fashion Week London show.
However, fashion is not her only passion. She is also an avid campaigner for women’s rights having organised her first event whilst still in school. Rachael now heads up a not-for-profit organisation called Foundation Tamar that supports survivors of sexual abuse both in the UK and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rachael has used her various experiences and opportunities to inspire and empower those around her. She has put her passions into action from a very young age allowing her to create a positive impact both nationally and internationally.
