‘Re-Imagining Black British Culture: The Life Cycle Project’ by Dr. Gloria Gordon

Saturday 9th June 2018, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM @ London South Bank University, 90 London Road, Elephant and Castle, London SE1 6LN

In the wake of the ‘Windrush’ scandal members of the African Caribbean community are invited to participate in this series of workshops which focuses on us re-imagining an alternative future for ourselves in British society.

This is a future for which we reclaim responsibility for our own cultural evolution generationally as far as purpose and meaning is concerned.

In achieving the above participants will be introduced to the ‘Life Cycle’ as Nature’s natural means for managing human affairs across our generations. You will also gain an understanding of how the Life Cycle has been historically undermined amongst the historically enslaved and colonised.

The rest of the session engages us in an individual and collective creative re-imagination exercise in evolving a collective vision to which we are individually committed to focus our energies.

The take-away from the session is a re-energised sense of our lives as critical to the historical process with a valuable and important contribution to make to humanity as a whole.
