History consultant Kwaku will lead the session, weaving the historic and legislative thread from the famed docking of Empire Windrush in 1948, the 1962 Commonwealth Immigration Act, the 1963 Bristol Bus Boycott, Paul Stephenson’s 1964 protest, the 1965 Race Relations Act, the 1993 murder of Stephen Lawrence, to the 2005 change in the double jeopardy law and the 2018 announcement of Stephen Lawrence Day (April 22).
The event marks the ‘African Jubilee Year’ at 50, the 1968′ Race Relations Act’ at 50 and the ‘UN’s International Decade For People Of African Descent’ (IDPAD) initiative.
