Join us for this enlightening and engaging course in which we will not only place Black Consciousness in its historical context but will learn how to deploy its tools in pursuit of our personal and collective growth.

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the ideas of South African revolutionary Steve Biko, who stressed the importance of psychological emancipation to any struggle for equality.

The first course of its kind, it aims to inspire participants to think about concrete ways to solve the problems our increasingly global and interconnected communities face.

A course open to all, through exercises designed to challenge participants to begin to think about ways to decolonise their mindset and the systems and structures around them, we aim to empower participants to live as Biko did, more audaciously, more authentically and most importantly, more consciously.

TUTOR

Apeike Umolu is an historian and the founder of the African History Project. She lectures in all aspects of Black history and specialises in West African political history. She has undertaken historical studies at the University of Oxford and is working on her first book Birth of Nations: West Africa 1945-1960.
