Black hair is beautiful in whichever form it is in. Black hair can be political, black hair can also be so intrinsic to our identity, and is one of the sacred bonds that ties black women together.
Black Ballad have teamed up with British hair care brand, Afrocenchix to create: The Pioneers, Present & Future Of The British Natural Haircare Movement – a mini-documentary discussing black hair, and celebrating the black women who’ve led the British Natural Haircare movement for the past decade or more.
Join us for a night of discussion, drinks, food, networking and the premiere screening of the documentary, produced and directed by Black Ballad editor Jendella Benson.
The documentary features contributions from pioneers, present and future, in the British Natural movement – ranging from YouTuber and entrepreneur Laila Jean Washington from ‘‘Fusion of Cultures’, ‘Care For Your Hair’ founder Pelumi Rae and veteran hair blogger Crystal Afro, to teenage hair gurus AfroCat365 and KhiasKurls.
Chaired by Black Ballad founder Tobi Oredein, our panel of speakers include award winning empowerment influencer and author Jay from Curlture, artist and creator of Bald Black Girls Ruth Sutoyé and co-founding director of ‘Afrocenchix’ Rachael Corson.
Open to everyone, with preferred pricing for Black Ballad members:
- Black Ballad premium members: £10.00
- Black Ballad members: £12.50
- General admission: £16.00
