White saviours, poverty porn, colonial roots: we’ve long known that fundraising and philanthropy have a racism problem that they don’t like to admit.
We also know that knowledge production and academic spaces are overwhelmingly white and gate-kept, often to the complete disservice of racialised communities.
#CharitySoWhite and Haseeb Shabbir from the University of Hull have partnered to publish a special issue for the International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing, focusing on all things race, fundraising, and philanthropy.
People of colour in the third sector we want your submissions – whether you’re an activist, a fundraiser, or a thought-leader – this is not exclusively for published academics!

This is an interactive workshop that will help participants decide on their chosen topic, discuss any ideas that they might want to flesh out, and speak to guest editors, Dr Haseeb Shabbir (University of Hull) and Martha Awojobi (#CharitySoWhite/JMB Consulting)
