29 June 2020
Online | £5
Yrsa Daley-Ward, writer, actor, model and activist, will be chatting to Guardian multimedia journalist Iman Amrani for the next digital event in our Fresh Voices series.
Known for her deeply intimate, brutally honest writing – including her memoir The Terrible, her poetry collection Bone, and a piece in the New Daughters of Africa anthology – as well as her online presence and TEDx talks, Daley-Ward’s works explore all parts of the human condition, from love and sexuality to grief and addiction, as well as race and mental health.
Daley-Ward was raised in Chorley, North England, by her devout Seventh Day Adventist grandparents, and now lives and works in New York City. She recently appeared in Peter Bowker’s thrilling BBC drama, World on Fire, alongside Helen Hunt and Sean Bean.
She will be talking to Amrani about her journey through modelling and acting, being referred to as an “Instagram poet”, her inspirations and challenges, and her experiences of life in lockdown.
This event is part of Fresh Voices, which showcases inspirational young people from the worlds of music, literature, activism, stage, and design. Further events in this series will be announced shortly.
