Kings Place, London, N1 9AG
Join Observer beauty columnist Funmi Fetto for an honest chat about beauty for all, talking about her new book, Palette: The Beauty Bible for Women of Colour, with Guardian beauty columnist Sali Hughes.
As a beauty journalist, Funmi Fetto had years of being asked by friends, family and strangers for advice on products suitable for women of colour, who were often left out from mainstream beauty coverage. Her new book Palette, a curation of beauty products women of colour should have on their radar, directly addresses this audience who have long felt excluded. Written in an honest style, Fetto draws on decades of experience in journalism and beauty writing as well as her time as Vogue contributing beauty editor.
Known for her inclusive approach, Guardian columnist Sali Hughes has written a number of books showing real women how to make the most of makeup’s physically and emotionally transformative powers.
Together, they will explore ideas of beauty, what is ‘mainstream’ and why the industry still seems so slow in reacting to the needs of women of colour.
Standard tickets for this event are £15, or £32 with a copy of Palette (RRP £25).
Running time: 90 minutes, no interval.
