These remarkable authors have made history over the last year. Bernardine became the first Black woman to top the paperback fiction chart, with her novel ‘Girl, Woman, Other’ and the first Black woman and Black British author to win the prestigious Booker Prize. Her novel was one of Barack Obama’s 19 Favourite Books of 2019.
Reni became the first Black British author to top the paperback non-fiction chart and then the overall bestsellers chart with her book ‘Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race’. As well as being an award-winning journalist, Reni’s podcast: ‘About Race with Reni Eddo-Lodge‘ was chosen as one of the best podcasts of 2018 by Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Harper’s Bazaar UK, The Guardian, British GQ and Wired UK.
