Embark on a captivating journey with us as we celebrate the launch of “Move, I Dare You,” by Taoheed Bayo, a 26-year-old performance artist, director and nomad born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria.
Move, I Dare You is a mesmerizing fusion of intimate photo stills and scattered personal texts. Acting as a compact visual story, a pictorial and textual stream of consciousness, this spellbinding book acts as a personal visual diary, inviting readers to immerse themselves in the author’s reflections, musings, and dreams captured during their travels across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America.
The event will feature film screenings that bring the pages of “Move, I Dare You” to life, allowing you to experience the author’s journey in vivid detail. Additionally, don’t miss the artist talk and Q&A session between Taoheed Bayo and Kazeem Kuteyi of New Currency Magazine, where they will delve into the creative process behind the book and discuss themes of Black transit, servitude, the search for global creative communes, nurturing creative relationships, and self-exploration. To further enhance your experience, the event will also include sound curation by Kem Kem, adding another layer of depth and emotion to the evening.
Move, I Dare You is an Afro-diasporic responsibility to transit and an invitation to servitude.
