Part of the Voila Festival this show is about a 2039 successful black woman that travels back in time to meet her younger self and tell her that there’s hope as racism, xenophobia, homophobia and all bigotry have seized to exist.
This show also explores the idea of Europe and being a European. What unites us and what divides us?
Issues such as displacement, cultural loss and identity are present through the show, yet the black girl magic and energy gives a balance of light and hopefulness.
What is it to be Black in Europe? Black British? African diaspora? What does this cultural and social mix bring into the future, and how is it still connected to the past?
This play breaks the linearity of time and invites the audience on the quest to build a beautiful future.
Because in times of social and cultural uncertainty theatre, especially new writing, challenges people to acknowledge and engage with problems as well as creating a better community way of thinking and interacting.
Blending spoken word, satire, and physical theatre, this is an Afrofuturist manifesto for the 21st century.
This show is produced and presented by Nuna Livhaber. Performed in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. 45 minutes. Ages 14+. Purchase your tickets here
