On 2nd July 2020, Patrice Lumumba would have been 95 years of age if he was not brutally assassinated aged 36.
The outspoken and charismatic revolutionary was the first legally elected prime minister of the Republic of Congo after he helped the country gain its independence from Belgium in 1960.
In this presentation, Black History Studies will commemorate the birthday of this late great African leader, examining his vision and legacy.
This presentation firstly addresses the early history of the Congo and Zaire region. Secondly this presentation will cover the pivotal moments in Congo’s History since 1885. Thirdly, this presentation will showcase the vision and legacy of Patrice Lumumba and its relevance today.
