Carol Anderson is one of America’s most distinguished Black scholars and leaders. She’s the Chair of African American Studies at Emory University and author of White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide. That book quickly became a New York Times best-seller and Notable Book of the Year, and the National Book Critics’ Circle Award Winner.
It’s easy to see why. As she writes:
“It is not the mere presence of black people that is the problem; rather, it is blackness with ambition, with drive, with purpose, with aspirations, and with demands for full and equal citizenship.”
“It wreaks havoc subtly, almost imperceptibly… white rage doesn’t have to wear sheets, burn crosses, or take to the streets. Working the halls of power, it can achieve its ends far more effectively, far more destructively.”
So join us to hear how Black truth speaks to white power.
