Live from the Barbican Hall
Spoken word performer George the Poet presents his unique combination of music, poetry and social commentary, with live orchestral accompaniment at the Barbican.
The London-born spoken word performer of Ugandan Heritage has won much critical acclaim for his charismatic performances and deft lyricism. He expertly interweaves poetry with musical storytelling and conversation – set to a backdrop of live orchestral music. For this evening’s performance he’ll be accompanied on stage by a small ensemble of classical musicians.
As a recording artist and social commentator his work has been broadcast to billions of people worldwide; and his BBC Sounds audio series ‘Have You Heard George’s Podcast?’ won a prestigious Peabody Awards and five Gold British Podcast Awards, including the highly coveted Podcast of the Year.
