Africa Fashion Week London: Financial Support and Sustainability (Webinar)
Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) launched an impressive 3 week webinar series, featuring experts in the fields of fashion photography, sustainability and ethics, technology, finance, funding and inclusivity.
Titled ‘Fashion Futures: The Panel Sessions’, it featured interviews with models and stylists, as well as representatives from The British Council, The Mayor’s Office, Parsons School of Design, UK Black Pride and the Southbank Centre.
I was honoured to host a webinar on the 14th of May, on how to access finance and Government backed schemes for small businesses and the self-employed.
Overview:
“Owing to the ongoing public health crisis and the compounding effect Covid-19 is having on the economy and on communities, many small businesses and freelancers within the creative and cultural sector, are particularly impacted, as reliance on public donations and tickets sales via events has ceased to exist.
The government announced a package of financial support measures, which many find confusing to understand or claim. Moreover, many charities are distributing grants, but accessing the funds can be overwhelming.”
In my webinar, attendees learnt what financial support is available, how to claim it, how to qualify for grants, and where to source funding once eligible.
