“I worked with Uchechi when we were both involved in the LDA Business London project – I was lead partner in the south London consortium and Uchechi was our counterpart at the LDA. She was consistent in her professionalism, attention to detail and objectivity, whatever the challenge or the situation” – Barbra Harding, Unleashing your Potential
Dream, but don’t fall asleep!
Working for the LDA (now the GLA) overseen by the then Mayor of London Ken Livingston, was a dream come true. My department was responsible for supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses with practical advice and access to finance.
But as I got into the groove, I became jaded. Over the years, I became disillusioned and wanted to find an alternative way to boost the productivity and growth ambitions of start-ups and community-based organisations – in a real tangible way. So, in 2007, I launched my Consultancy firm. I spend most of my time writing commercial and public tenders, as well as authoring applications to grant making trusts and foundations. To date I have won circa £70 million for my range of national clients.
I work alongside individuals and teams, with expertise in the following areas:
- Raising Finance – Writing grant applications, public and commercial tenders and bids. I provide a Funding Radar Service, which is a monthly ‘opportunity tracker’. Based on the clients’ needs, I search, qualify and present relevant funding options for consideration. Once agreed, I author and submit the application. I also provide business and strategic planning services and assist clients to become Fit-to-Supply or Contract Ready.
- Relationship Management – I formalise partnerships for operational and strategic benefit on behalf of my clients. These partnerships support cross-fertilisation of skills, resources, networks and ultimately greater business opportunities. Collaborations work best when there is a cohesive and coherent framework of agreed objectives.
- Project Management & Evaluations – Delivery of high value and complex programmes, undertaking the full project cycle: identifying funding; securing funding; service delivery; project evaluation and closure. I am experienced and adept at designing and conducting Impact, Self and Desk Evaluations, feasibility studies and evidence-based research.
