OVERVIEW
At Meeting of Minds, our plan is to become the ‘Leading Exporter of African Narratives’. We publish three distinct digital magazines: Africa in Focus, Real Reads and Grad Zine.
In the last year, the company has evolved into a modern media agency – a cross platform brand celebrating and championing Black female and non-binary voices. Our writers deliver intimate stories and critical commentary at the intersection of race and gender.
We are currently expanding our team and are looking for a Social Media Coordinator to help us grow, increase exposure and engagement across our multiple platforms.
Working remotely, this is a part-time/freelance position with competitive remuneration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the ongoing social media strategy for the company
- Working with the Founder and Creative Director to create and implement social media strategies to ensure brand consistency
- Creating, scheduling and publishing both high-quality original and curated content across multiple social media platforms
- Create actionable plans to both grow and maintain followers across our platforms with a specific focus on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
- Reviewing social media analytics to evaluate performance
- Produce a monthly sales strategy to drive membership subscriptions
- Ensure progress on all platforms by using analytical tools such as Google Analytics
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Black Woman or non-binary person with at least one years’ experience of building an online community and using social media to drive engagement
- Strong copywriting skills
- Ability to confidently execute a brand voice
- Experience with using content management systems
- Collaborative, team player who can liaise effectively with the leadership and editorial team to produce a content calendar
- Strong analytical skills, proficient using multi-social posting programmes such as Hootsuite and HubSpot
- General knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation and internet ranking for web content
- Firm understanding of growth marketing principles
- Interest in afro-diasporic culture and politics
- Can curate and repurpose relevant content for our audience
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Currently studying or recently graduated from a media, marketing, business, public relations, advertising or related field
- Video editing skills
- Computer and graphic design skills: Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Suites
